Pink Salmon Run Report – Area 9 (Admiralty Inlet)

Last Updated: September 6, 2025 – 6:44 AM

As the 2025 pink salmon season winds down in Area 9, it’s clear this run gave us plenty to talk about. From modest early August counts to peak-season fireworks in late August, anglers across Everett, Mukilteo, and the surrounding ramps have seen one of the more memorable cycles in recent years.

Early Season (Aug 1–10)

The first week of August started quietly, with daily totals in the low hundreds and catch per angler hovering around 0.2–0.6. By the second weekend, momentum built β€” Everett and Mukilteo carried most of the weight, with CPAs topping 1.2/angler.

Mid-August Surge (Aug 11–17)

By mid-month the run truly ignited. Everett regularly pushed totals above 250–300 pinks per day, and Mukilteo added steady numbers. Catch rates climbed sharply, with a new high of 2.06/angler on Aug 14 β€” the first sign that the peak was here.

Peak Action (Aug 18–24)

This was the week to remember. On Aug 19, Everett lit up with 278 pinks, driving the season-best 2.86 fish per angler. The weekend that followed was one for the books:

  • Aug 23: ~2,500 pinks reported across Area 9.

  • Aug 24: nearly 1,900 pinks landed.
Everett and Mukilteo dominated, with many anglers reporting easy limits around tide changes.

Late August & Early September (Aug 25–Sep 5)

After the peak, numbers softened as expected. Daily totals eased into the hundreds, with CPAs mostly between 0.8–1.6. Everett remained the workhorse, while Mukilteo, Fort Casey, and Dagmar’s Landing kept contributing. By early September, catches were noticeably lighter β€” still fish to be had, but the explosive days were behind us.

Looking Back

  • Best Catch per Angler: 2.86 (Aug 19)

  • Highest Daily Totals: ~2,500 pinks (Aug 23)

This run delivered in a big way for those who timed it right, especially mid- to late August.

What’s Next

While the peak is behind us, a few late fish are still filtering through Area 9. Some anglers may find action around tide changes, but for most, the 2025 pink run will be remembered for the explosive push in late August.

About This Report

Data is compiled from the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife (WDFW) Creel Reports for Area 9 – Admiralty Inlet. Since Area 8-2 (Humpy Hollow) retention is closed to salmon fishing this year, Area 9 is the nearest open fishery for most anglers in our community.

Pink salmon counts represent total fish reported caught during WDFW survey interviews at public ramps and fishing sites. Catch per angler is calculated as total pinks Γ· total anglers interviewed. This is a sample-based estimate and may not represent total fishery harvest.
